Beliefs & Philosophy
The overall purpose of counselling is to
provide a person with better opportunities to live and manage their life
in a healthier way. Although there are no quick or easy answers, by
listening and encouraging, counselling can help to find a clearer route
through current or past difficulties and situations. This is done by a
working relationship with a counsellor, and together exploring the
person’s goals and assisting them to become aware of their thoughts and
feelings.
Humanistic integrative counselling is suitable for a wide
range of issues such as anxiety, stress, low self esteem, bereavement
and loss, abuse and many more common life problems.
My aim is to
understand what you are experiencing and to facilitate a change, by
assisting you to sense a transfer of the issues into awareness of
experiences, to gradually travel beyond confusion and slowly experience
freedom and for you to choose your own way of ‘being’, which will come
closer to your inner feelings and values.
The term ‘integrative’ is applied as I bring in different therapeutic skills and techniques
to fit each client’s individual needs, which will assist to address
thoughts and feelings, facilitating the person to become ‘whole’.
Using art as a creative mode opens the world to imagination, intuition and inspiration. The process is a visible keepsake and assists to connect the client with their inner self. By facilitating the message from the image such as bridging the position of the image/shape, colours used, image size etc. back to the client enables them to understand the meaning of the image and provides an accurate approach towards self actualisation.
